read this document in its entirety before you begin.
Follow
every step as outlined here. Take care, because
one
small error can prevent a correct connection.

Do NOT use Trumpet Winsock's dialer with Windows 95!
Windows 95 has built-in PPP networking
abilities which replace Trumpet Winsock.
3.
Please do not feel intimidated by the length of this document.
Each line has only one simple command.

Instructions
Part 1: Installing
Dial-Up Networking
Note: You
may have already installed this when you set up Win95 or 98, but please
check now to ensure that these utilities are available.

1 Using the [Start] menu, select settings
and choose [Control Panel]
-
2 Select [Add/Remove Programs]
-
3 Choose the [Windows Setup] tab
-
4 Double-click on [Communications]
-
5 Check the following boxes:
-
[Dial-Up Networking]
-
[HyperTerminal]
-
[Phone Dialer]
-
6 Click [OK], then click [OK] again
in the [Add/Remove Programs] window
-
7 Insert the Windows 95 installation
disks when/if prompted
-
8 Restart Your Computer when/if prompted
Part 2: Setting
Up Dial-Up Networking
Section 1: Making the Connection
-
1 Double-click on [My Computer]
-
2 Double-click [Dial-Up Networking]
(If you don't find dial-up networking here, click the [Start] menu, then
[Programs], and then [Accessories])
-
3 Select the [Connections] menu
-
4 Select [Settings]
-
5 Check [Redial] and set the number
of redial attempts.
-
6 You should be able to leave everything
else as it is.
-
7 Click [OK]
Section 2: Making the Bizcom icon
-
1 Double-click [Make New Connection]
-
2 Enter "Bizcom" as the name of the
computer you are dialing
-
3 If your modem is not selected in the
[Select a Modem] field, select it now
-
4 Click [Next]
-
5 Enter your local Bizcom data
phone number here...
-

(if you need to dial "9" to get an outside
line, or *70 to disable call waiting, click the modem icon in the Control
Panel)

6 Click [Next]

7 Click [Finish]

8 Click once on the "Bizcom" icon

9 Select [File], then Select [Properties]
-
10 Click on the [Server Type] button
-
11 Set [Type of Dial-Up Server] to:
[PPP: Windows95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet]
-
12 Uncheck the following boxes:
-
[Log on to network]
-
[Enable Software Compression]
-
[Require Encrypted Password]
-
13 Under [Allowed Network Protocols--make
sure only [TCP/IP] is checked, and uncheck the following Protocols,
if necessary:
-
[NetBEUI]
-
[IPX/SPX Compatible]
-
14 Click [TCP/IP Settings]
-
15 Click [Server assigned IP address]
-
16 Click [Specify name server addresses]
-
17 Under [Primary DNS] enter "209.63.135.7"
-
18 Under [Secondary DNS] enter "209.63.135.8"
-
19 Check [Use IP header compression]
-
20 Check [Use default gateway on remote
network]
-
21 Click [OK], then click to the [General]
tab
-
22 Click [Configure], which should take
you to a new [General] tab
-
23 Set [Port] (only if necessary) to
the com port your modem is connected to
-
24 Set speaker volume as desired
-
25 Set [Maximum Speed] to "19200" for
a 14.4 modem; "57600" for a 28.8 modem; and “115000” for a 33.6 or 56k
modem
-
26 Click the [Connection] tab
-
27 Set [Data Bits] to "8"
-
28 Set [Parity] to "none"
-
29 Set [Stop Bits] to "1"
-
30 Check the [Wait for dial tone before
dialing button]
-
Please note: Uncheck this if you have
voice messaging
-
31 Click the [Options] tab
-
32 Uncheck [Bring up terminal window
before dialing]
-
33 Uncheck [Bring up terminal window
after dialing]
-
34 Uncheck [Operator assisted or manual
dial]
-
35 Check [Display modem status] to see
a modem displayed in your desktop tray (this shows when your modem is working)
-
36 Click [OK], then click [OK] again
-
37 Close the [Dial-Up Networking] window
Part 3: Installing
The Client for Microsoft Networks
-
1 Open the [Control Panel]
-
2 Double-click on [Network]
-
3 Click the [Add] button
-
4 Double click on [Client], then click
on [Microsoft]
-
5 Click on [Client for Microsoft Networks],
then click [OK]
-
6 Select the [Identification] tab
-
7 Give your computer a name in the [Name
of Computer] box
-
8 Under [Work Group] type, "Bizcom"
-
9 Click on the [Configuration] tab,
then Click [OK]
-
10 Insert your Windows 95 Disk(s) when/if
prompted
-
11 When prompted to [Restart your computer],
select [Restart Now]
-
12 When you computer finishes restarting,
it will prompt you for a [Username] and [Password]
-
13 Type in your Username
-
14 Type your current Password (read
note below)
-
15 Re-type your password in the [Confirm
new password field]
-
16 Then select [OK]
Part 4: Configuring
TCP/IP
-
1 Open the [Control Panel]
-
2 Double-click on [Network]
-
3 Click on [TCP/IP] (Dial-Up Adapter)
so it is highlighted
-
4 Click on [Properties]
-
5 Click on the [IP Address] tab
-
6 Select the [Obtain an IP address automatically]
button
-
7 Click on the [DNS Configuration] tab
-
8 Click [Enable DNS]
-
9 Enter "bizcom" in the host field
-
10 Enter "bizcom.com" in the domain
field
-
11 Enter "209.63.135.7" in the [DNS
Server Search Order] box
-
12 Click [Add]
-
13 Enter "209.63.135.8" in the "DNS
Server Search Order" box
-
14 Click [Add]
-
15 Enter "bizcom.com" in the "Domain
Suffix Search Order" box
-
16 Click [Add]
-
17 Enter "." in the "Domain Suffix Search
Order" box
-
18 Click [Add]
-
19 Click on the [Gateway] tab
-
20 In the [New Gateway] box enter "209.210.27.1"
-
21 Click [Add]
-
22 Click the [WINS Configuration] tab
-
23 Click [Disable WINS Resolution]
-
24 Click the [Bindings] tab
-
25 Check the [Client for Microsoft Networks]
box
-
26 Click [OK] for the TCP/IP window
-
27 Set [Primary Network Logon] to "Client
for Microsoft Networks"
-
28 Click [OK] for both the TCP/IP and
Network windows
-
29 [Restart your computer]
Please Note:You
must now restart your computer. If you are not prompted to do
so, click the [Start] menu, select [Shut Down], then [Restart Computer],
and click [Yes].
Part 5: Logging
in
-
1 Open [My Computer]
-
2 Open [Dial-Up Networking]
-
3 Double-Click on the "Bizcom" icon
-
4 Enter your username (NOTE: your username
is all lowercase)
-
5 Enter your password (NOTE: your password
is case sensitive)
-
6 Click [Connect]; Note: You may wish
to check [Save Password]
-
7 You may wish to drag a copy of your
Bizcom icon onto your desktop as a shortcut for future accessibility
Part 6: Disconnecting
-
1] Bring up the Bizcom Dial-Up Networking
icon from the Taskbar.
-
2] Click [Disconnect]
