Tips On
Writing A
Winning Promotion!

The Title

The title of your web page is the most important aspect of your listing. Make it interesting - "A Free Software Library" or "A Program For Every Need" will stand out and is more likely to be viewed than "Bob's Company". Make your title enticing, tell the searcher what your site has to offer.

A lot of search engines will bring up the titles in alphabetical order. One key to being noticed is starting your title with "A" or even a numerical symbol (1 Cool Website). Chances are your entry will be one of the first to come up. You will have a better success rate if your entry appears at the top of a list rather than the bottom.

Don't use all capital letters in your title. Some may think that this approach gives you more visibility, when actually it is quite irritating and cheapens your listing.

Try to use as much character space as allowed for your title. Long titles some how manage to stand out from the short titles and also allow you to be more descriptive.

The Description

You will notice on the form "First Description" and "Second Description". The first description should be the most important information as it will be the only description displayed on those listings that only allow a short description. On the listings that allow a longer description, both descriptions will automatically be pieced together as one paragraph. So be sure to prioritize your description in an order of importance.

The Keywords

Use keywords that are relevant to your site. You will not need to use keywords that are in your title or descriptions, as these are searched and stored in the database already. The more relevant and different keywords you use, the better chance your listing has of coming up on searches. In the promo-form, use your most important keywords in the first field, and the second priority keywords in the second field. On the listings that allow a longer list of keywords, The Promo-Machine will submit both fields of keywords together. The listings that only allow a smaller list, they will only receive the keywords in the First Keywords field. Start The Promo-Machine.
